Actually, Gareth could support the princess’ weight even without the gloves. Despite not being a terribly competent fighter, he is of average strength for a guy his size and the princess isn’t exactly a heavyweight.
As far as the Sisters of Misrule go, there is definitely something going on with them and Sharona seems to have figured it out too!

Branding is only one possibility. There’s also birthmarks, moles, freckles, scars, hair, ink (from a pen or squid), ink (tattoo), bruise, wrinkle, cellulite, varicose veins, and the never popular “random object embedded under the skin by an accident”. For example, one of my friends has some gravel embedded in his left forearm after falling off his skateboard and skidding for a short distance. Just looks like a weird black lump.
I’ve noticed all women (including the midgets) have rather large breasts (an observation, not a complaint :)). So I’m curios, is there such a thing as an “average” size woman? As in about half Sharona’s size?
Well, as John has mentioned, this is an age where physical fitness is favoured over intellectual fortitude. The people may be actively breeding for strong, healthy offspring… with certain qualities.
There are indeed average sized women in Sharona’s world, but they seem to live average lives and therefore don’t cross paths with Sharona very much! 😀
Seriously though, since I’ve always envisioned The Savage Sword of Sharona as being an over-the-top fantasy comic(with a sense of humor), most of the characters(both male and female) tend to be “larger than life”, although more average characters like Gareth may appear from time to time.
i would say the ring and gloves are a good payment for Sharona or something from the king as a thank you.

Are those little women really tiny transsexuals or part of a plot by evil princesses. The hack should have given Sharona more credit so he’ll have a little chat. He’d never save the princess with out Sharona the sisters are too strong for Belinda and too mean for Golan. Which all goes to show the hack should have butchered pop music so hard the sisters of miss rule would give up.

What is interesting to me is that whatever it is was not visible to the viewer in panel 1 of page 20, but is visible to Sharona in panel 1 of page 24. Similarly page 27 and here on 28 with the final “sister”. Must admit I am curious to find out. And find out if Gareth is a decent bard. ^.^
